Schuberth C2 chin gaiter inside or outside the buckle?

I have both a C1 and a new C2 and have found one difference that confuses me. The chin/neck gaiter on the C2 is larger than the C1 and seems to hit the buckle when I close the front. Should I put the buckle inside the gaiter, or outside the gaiter. Inside seems to be more comfortable but takes a little work. I may just remove the gaiter for the summer but I'll have the same issue this winter so thought I'd ask the board. Comments from C2 owners please,

Gaiter goes inside the buckle. That wide fluffy gaitor strip is so much more comfortable across the bottom of the chin than the straps on much cheaper helmets. It's designed to prevent chin chaffing.
