Leaving May 15, headed west. We were going to leave Amarillo and take Hwy 60 to Clovis, Hwy 70 down to Roswell, 70/380 to Socorro, and pick up 60 again to AZ. Looks like the wildfires may give us a good reason to change that. National Forest Service website is not very promising Any locals have a good grip on the current situation?TIA

I believe most of the bad fire in Arizona is just north of Flagstaff or just south of Prescott.  Based on that, 60 in Arizona, at least to Payson,  should be fine.  Going north or south from there will depend on current conditions and on your destination

Thanks. We had intended on going thru Cottonwood, Sedona, Flagstaff to the South Rim , and onto Bryce etc. Wondering if staying west and hitting Williams we can maybe skirt the worst of it and still continue to the the Grand Canyon. Time will tell.

Current conditions indicate the fire is mostly contained . 180 out of Flag would not be a problem anyway as the fire was much further east on 89 north..

I noticed tonight in that area it was getting better. We hope to just skip through and get to Utah to ride Bryce, Zion, Torrey, Moki etc. Hopefully, it will be better by then. Thanks again.
