Bailed

Booked hotel in Ashland, KY for a weekend's riding.  Planned a few routes in Basecamp and packed.

 

We hit traffic jams in Indy immediately.  Dead stops and creeping < 5 mph.  Finally get out of town and cruising until road construction between Indy & Cincy.  Miles and miles of one-lane backups.  Still, all's good as the tank if full and the bladders are empty.  Traffic is really slow but eventually picks up in the single lane and is cruising when it turns to two lanes.

 

23 miles to Cincy and the traffic is at a standstill as far as we can see.

 

That's when we decided to bail. Back to home on state roads.  Well, we tried.  Indy>Cincy is usually about a 2 hr ride.  We were 4 hours into the trip and 23 miles short of Cincy and 163 short of Ashland.  Enough!

Or in an A-6 Intruder!  Always best to pull the plug early if you’re not feeling it.
