StretchMark
Last time I ordered Michelin Anakees for my 1200GS from SW Moto, there was only one choice 110/80 R19 and 150/70 R17. Now there is a 110/80 HR-19 or 110/80 VR-19 for the front and a 150/70 HR-17 or 150/70 VR-17 for the rear. The Michelin page doesn't show the HR or VR. Anyone know the difference between the HR and VR other than that the VR costs more? Link to comment
John Ranalletta
Mark, I think the difference is the tread thickness. The higher speed tire has thinner thread to reduce heat buildup. With cars, I hear it's not a good idea to mix & match. Don't know about bikes. Link to comment
David
I've used both, on the road and on the track. Buy whatever is cheaper. Putting a V rated tire on a 12GS is like putting lipstick on a pig! Link to comment
RightSpin
Mark, all I've been able to determine is that it's more of a legal thing than anything else. The H rated tires are "certified" for speeds up to 130mph and the V is rated for up to 149mph. Considering the top speed of the GS is around 128, the H rated tire should handle the job (unless, of course, your DCB and then you should consider Z rated tires). Link to comment
Firefight911
Why, because I'm a pig? Who wears lipstick, for crying out loud! Link to comment

RightSpin
Why, because I'm a pig? No, but the lipstick part is interesting. I can hear it now over the PA speaker at fall El Paseo: "Blairsville Witch, we need a lipstick in aisle 6." Link to comment
