Event details

So, who is interested in drinking some bourbon?

This is posted in the Local Anytime Ride and Event Planning section of the board.

Susan and I are planning to stop off in Bardstown, KY on the way to the 2025 BMWMOA Rally in Lebanon, TN (https://rally.bmwmoa.org).  Bardstown sits about 2 hours north of the rally site.

My thought is to arrive in Bardstown Monday June 16, take a bus tour of 3 distilleries on Tuesday(https://kentuckybourbonboys.com/), leaving to arrive at the rally site on Wednesday (we volunteer at the rally).  The Bardstown Motel looks like an interesting place to base out of (https://www.bardstownmotorlodge.com/gallery).

Some will believe this a sacrilege, but here goes...

At Barton's, pick up a bottle of Bourbon Ball - chocolate whiskey.  Smooth aperitif but especially good on Breyers vanilla ice cream.

Label of Barton 1792 Distillery Chocolate Bourbon Ball Cream Liqueur

We may end up going that way if I40 is not reopened by the time the Rally hits.

Thinking on it since we're scheduled for the BMWMOA rally from Wednesday through Sunday. Just have to square the work schedules to allow the extra days off to do the bourbon event. I'll have to see if I can get any "consideration" since I'm a card carrying Kentucky Colonel.

Funny story... Well, maybe not so funny.  Years ago Ruth made the first ham glaze with bourbon.  Half way through the cook the oven door sprang open and slammed shut with a bang.  Apparently, the alcohol vapors ignited in the gas stove.  Scared the hell out of us!

Very good info  to have since I use  a gas stove as well.  Have to keep that tidbit in the back of my mind for future reference so I don't go all :16:at some point!

Don't remember but will bet it was in the early part of the cook.  Could be a good idea to just crack the oven door a couple of time to vent the fumes; or, just stand back.

I'm not sure they are STILL selling this at the distillery store. But it is available in some retail outlets - like Total Wine. This is new, as John suggested, it was only available on site previously.

John - Nora Plaza has it in stock.

So, I am getting closer to finishing up the details for this bourbon tour.  If you have not sent me an email at [email protected], and you are interested, please do so.  If we have 10 people, it will run about 255 bucks per person for the 3 distillery tour, lunch, and bus/coach.
