BMWSportTouring Events & Activities

UPDATED LOCATION: We moved the event to Chiefland, FL to Bar-B-Q Bill's at 1901 N Young Blvd, Chiefland, FL 32626

This year will be the 21th edition of the Cedar Key Lunch/Weekend event, it will be on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:30 AM.

Tim @tallman started this event on the Saturday after the MLK  Holiday in 2005, and later @Kinsley assisted with the organizing of this event.  I @Bernie, think it is a great event that @tallman and @Kinsley created and it should continue in future.

So dust of your bikes, call your pet sitter, load up your SO  and join me (Bernie) and others for lunch at the Gulf Coast.

PS: if you and your friends think you can make it , leave me a post here, so I can warn the restaurant about the invasion.

After excessive research by @Calvin (no socks) located a restaurant, that has proven itself worth another visit.

By the way, back in 2005 this place was called Frog Landing and the original place for lunch.

I have always wanted to attend one of these, but alas I work in finance, and the first 6 weeks of the Year I am basically working 6-7 days a week closing the books for the prior year.

you all have fun.

Well first we have to wait until the hurricane damage has been assessed and if the restaurant is open. But I am hoping for the best and hopefully by January everything is back to some sort of normal.

I will once again volunteer to venture down the 80 miles during the month of December to evaluate the area. From some photos I have seen we may be looking for an alternate venue this year. ( Fingers crossed )

Thank you Calvin and keep us posted. If we have to, we could move it to a place in Chiefland, if absolutely needed.

When I checked the website for the Steamers Bar & Grill, it said they are open.

I'm in for lunch. Cedar Key is an awesome little destination with a short airstrip. I flew my Mooney into there for lunch a few years past. There's a restaurant (Tony's) that has some of the best clam chowder I've ever had. Anyone have a good hotel recommendation?

Cedar Key already has severe damage from Helene, Milton is sure to add to the destruction and delay any repairs.

We (Calvin (no socks) and I, @Bernie) have been trying to locate a suitable place to use while Cedar Key is being rebuilt from the double Hurricane impacts this year.
I just received the following message from the scouting team:

I braved arctic conditions Today and certified BBQ Bill’s as an acceptable alternative for the Cedar Key 2025 luncheon site.

A large open dining room and adequate parking area cemented my opinion.

I spoke with management about our gathering. Payment at the table or cash register is the normal. I assured them that a phone call 24 hours prior with approximate attendance would be provided.
