21013 R1200RT - radio Installation

Hello,

I finally did it.  I installed a bluetooth radio on my 2103 R1200RT that has no radio at all.

I was used to ride an F3t Can-Am Spyder with a radio and was using my Spotify on my cell phone with it.

When I bought my R1200RT, I was looking for one with a radio, but the one that i bought has not that option.

After looking at many options, I came our with a Kenwood KAC-M1824BT bluethooth recever/amplifier.  I aslo bought Polk Audio MM 522 5.25inches marine speakers.

without the speaker housing, I must admit that the process has been a lot more complicated than I tought.

But, in the end, I'm really happy with how it came out and how it sounds.

I haven't test it on the road as we had some late snow in the last week in Quebec, But i'm sure it will be OK.

I still have to find a better way to install the remote/bluetooth control, but for noe, it will be ok.

here's somes pictures of my installation.

Nice work!  I can appreciate the amount of time, effort and thought that went into your project.  From reading the earlier posts on this subject I was curious how you were going to solve the lack of speaker enclosures but you made it look easy -- I know it wasn't.  Wishing you many seasons of great rides with great tunes!

BTW, I used those same type of switches on my '13RT. Here's some photos:

Thanks for the kind words :)

What are you controlling with those switches ?

The switches control a pair of led lights mounted on the forks and a Bel pro RX65 radar detector mounted remotely behind the lower left fairing panel.  For the Bel I modified the Smartplug which has indicator lights and a mute button and installed it in the dash.  I hear beeps and voice alerts in the right helmet speaker.
