Rogerl Posted April 6 I received the same recall notice yesterday for my 2013 R1200R. I think I will have them replace the fuel strip at the same time. I have been without a fuel gauge for a few years now. Roger L Share this post Link to post
6speedTi Posted April 6 Got my letter yesterday. I already replaced the pump in 2019 and asked about reimbursement. Best thing to do is talk to your dealer if your in a situation like mine. BMW said the recall will remain open until it's complied with. So if my pump leaks again I can get it taken care of under the recall. It's possible I'll get reimbursed with documentation. I was reasonable on the phone with BMW and they said to have my dealer sort out the details. They want to make sure a dealership does the work properly. Share this post Link to post
freetime2247 Posted April 6 I too received this recall on my 2012RT. Called my closest dealer in New Orleans and was informed they would 1st have to inspect to see if any replacements were required. Was told replacement takes about 1.5hrs. Unfortunately, they will not stock a supply of the required fuel pumps but rather order from BMW as needed. Given I live about 150 miles from the dealership I asked if they could make a special circumstance for me given I’d have to leave the bike and make two trips. Basically, I was told BMW would not let them preorder the parts! What ever happened to customer service? Share this post Link to post
TEWKS Posted April 6 MAX BMW said no inspection needed, they are just replacing them. If BMW is supplying the pumps and are paying the dealerships to replace it, why would they want to inspect. Share this post Link to post

Still think they should have an adequate supply of these pumps on the self ready to install. 1 Share this post Link to post
TEWKS Posted April 6 Now MAX is actually going to make some decent coin with my pump recall. I’m paying them for a service while it’s in their shop. Done more to show appreciation for their hassle free attitude with the recall. Share this post Link to post

bwpsg42 Posted Thursday at 01:57 AM Yep, I spoke with my nearest dealer today and based on the VIN he ordered the pump for a May 4 appointment as I head out on a trip. Share this post Link to post
freetime2247 Posted Thursday at 02:06 AM I called BMW Motorad today and complained about the New Orleans Dealership. Not sure it will do any good! They said it’s not an inspection it’s a replacement! I won’t be doing any business in New Orleans! Share this post Link to post
lather Posted Thursday at 01:19 PM New Orleans is the closest dealer for me as well. Where will you get your recall done if not New Orleans? Share this post Link to post

I'm in no hurry as I'm not having any issues with my bike. I'll take my recall notice and contact a dealer on my next cross country ride. I will not be using the New Orleans dealership as its a huge lack of trust. Share this post Link to post
lather Posted Thursday at 08:52 PM I had a look at my fuel pump last week when I had the tank cover off for a valve clearance check. All looked fine, no sign of any leak. I have a two week trip coming up. I will contact the New Orleans dealer when I get back. Hopefully Motorad will have straightened them out by then. Share this post Link to post
Yango Posted Sunday at 03:30 PM I got my recall notice for my 2013 RT on Friday... the same day that I received an email from my dealer that they have two confirmed cases of COVID-19 and are closed for at least a week. I was supposed to be taking my bike out of winter storage on the 17th... So I’m not sure when I’ll be able to pick my bike up, or get this recall taken care of. Share this post Link to post
