ThereJay
I am going to add lights to my 2018 R1200RT topcase. I can see where the wiring leaves the case bottom grommet but how do I remove the inner liner to get at this wiring exit? I've searched and found some older topcase instructions but nothing on this newer style 49L topcase. Anyone able to point in the correct direction? Jay Link to comment
TEWKS
If I understand correctly, I believe what you do is remove the outer top shell of the case. There are some screws on the inside top part of the lid that you remove to separate the outer shell. It’s been a long while so complete accuracy in my instructions isn’t there. But, should point you in the right direction. Edit..oh, welcome to the site! Link to comment
strataj
Like Pat said you don't need to remove the liner. See attached Install topcase brake light.pdf Link to comment
ThereJay
OK, so my top case wasn't pre wired so the inner liner needed to be drilled for my wiring. I managed this with a lot of patience and a little help because I just lifted the inner liner enough to pull the wire through. I still don't know how to remove this inner liner because of how it is connected to the hinges, guess it doesn't matter now. This was a bigger job than I first thought. The Skene LEDs look, great in my opinion. Here is where I got the idea. https://www.skenelights.com/additional-leds Link to comment
strataj
OK so the top case doesn't have central locking which would of include the brake wiring. I've heard other that also had a hard time removing the inner case. They wanted to paint the outside to match the bike. From what was said is must snap together and taking it apart may break tabs. Based on that I think the Skene option is a better choice. Link to comment
