BMKrider
"Graham, I had an 04 KGT which I sold last year. One of the few things I disliked about that bike was that if you left it on the side stand for more than a few hours it smoked like hell when you started it up. It was downright embarrassing! The other thing was that I had problems getting it up on the centerstand due to a back injury. And I always had to put it on the centerstand to avoid the smoke! If they had put a "handle" on it like my old RT used to have I think I might have been OK. I have been out of the BMW loop for about a year now, so I know little about the new machines. I figured I might as well ask someone who has one, so: a. Does the new K engine smoke if left on sidestand overnight? b. How is the bike to get up on the centerstand? Have they provided a lifting point or do you still have to grab the luggage rack for leverage? c. Does the GT have an integrated system for mounting a tank bag similar to the one on the new RT? Thanks for any info you can provide. I am afraid I am being drawn back to the dark side of the K bike. They are addictive machines. But.....I am sure that you know that by now. Regards, Jerry Elliott " Jerry I cannot reply to these queries as your listing states that you have chosen not to accept PM's. Briefly so as not to bore other readers. a) - No. b) - can be difficult but firm downward pressure on the stand helps. You can help this by using the pillions rear grab handles. c) - No but BMW does supply a GT tank bag of equal capacity that is very east to remove and walk around with. Graham Link to comment
JerryElliott
Thanks for the info, Graham. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. The inability to receive PM's was inadvertant. Thanks for the heads up on that. Congratulations on your new bike. I hope to see the new RT and KGT in person soon. Regards, Jerry Link to comment
tallman
Jerry, There's one of each just south of you. Don't expect them to be there long. Link to comment
JerryElliott
Thanks, Tim. I may have to find the time to get down there to see you. I'll call first though because with my luck I'd show up the day after you sold them! Regards, Jerry Link to comment
