went out to take the bike to work today and the battery was dead. it's new so i must have left something on.

anyway, do i have to remove the battery to get to both terminals or is there a way to connect a charger without removing the battery?

i have a standard motorcycle trickle charger.

thanks,

Hi Eric,i connect mine using a bmw plug through the accessory socket,be careful if using a car type charger that you don`t "boil" the battery if possible get a motorcycle charger that can be left on indefinitly, that way if you forget it,it won`t damage the battery.

???

I thought all R1100RT had one on the lower left side.

Not withstanding, if needed you could remove the left side tupperware and the battery slides out.

I think he means he doesn't have the male plug, not the socket ???

You can connect a $11 (Aerostich) YUASA Battery Analyzer to the battery.

I have one on each of my bikes. A press of the snap-action membrane button on the module lights up a green or red LED indicating if you need to charge up your battery. Unplug the module and you are left with an SAE connector to hook up the charger or an accessory like a heated vest.

thanks for the replies. indeed, i don't have the male part. i need to get one. FYI, i removed the right panel to get access to the positive bolt. i could reach the negative with the seat removed. therefore, i accomplished my goal of not removing the battery. clap.gif
