Hi, I'm a first time BMW owner (just bought 2001 RT) and new to this group. I will be referencing the archives frequently to pick up maintenance tips etc.

Someone has probably already thought of this but here goes.

Was wishing that my bike had some sort of cruse control and read someone's post about how the Throttlemeister works. This sounded way to simple I'll bet I could make something like that. Went to local hardware store and bought two rubber washers. They are about 1/16" thick, 2" in diameter with a 1/2" hole in the center. I removed the bar end weight, slipped the two washers over the 1/2" sleeve and put the bar weight back on. Snuged the screw down a little and wala it works perfect. There is friction between the bar weight, washers and the rubber throttle grip. Took a nice long ride today and it works just like a $100 store bought one.

It sounds like you can't disable your $2 cruise control. A permanantly "sticky" throttle is not good. A throttlemeister has a cam mechanism that engages the friction lock.
