My bikes are still in quarantine in Palm Springs.   The batteries are probably toasted critters and all white plastic is now a shade of urine.

The border is still closed (to land crossings) and there is a ban on non-essential travel that nullifies my motorcycle, travel and health insurance.

But if'n the border is opened in the next 2 months ...............

I'm jonesing for a Happy Burro Chili Dog.  I'm IN as long as long as work lets me go.  Sadly there's a good chance we'll be back on tactical deployment for election protests/riots.  Things seem to be ramping up again after a brief lull.  I'm crossing my fingers I can go.

We’re on!

The annual Beatty invasion, Happy Burro chili dogs and all the PBR one can drink!

Stunning scenery, excellent roads, and great people to hang out with

November 6/7 at the newly remodeled luxury hotel Exchange Club, in beautiful downtown Beatty!                              Mention BMW 2020 for the $75 a night discount. You will have to make an old Skool  phone call..775-553-2333 (you know, the lost art of conversation) to make your reservation.

Always a good time, don’t miss this one

And, as has been said in years past, What happens in Beatty, stays in Beatty!

The Kernville brewery should still be up and serving..........

And the ride over Sherman pass on Friday and then on to DV was epic last year!

I don't know about Lone Pine's situation, but I rode through Big Pine just north of there in July and a few of the restaurants had outdoor dining setups under tents where you can sit and eat like normal trying to maintain 6 foot distancing.  I'd guess you'll just have to play it by ear to see who has what setup.  In July Nevada had restaurants open in most counties, with 6 foot distancing.

At least it shouldn’t ungodly hot by then. I had lunch at elpollo loco in agora today around noon and it was 103°. Afterwards I rode down kanan dume and the bike said 113°. By the time I got off of Latigo and into Malibu it was 75°.  Jeez.

up on Piuma it was 104° and I was behind a chp suv for a mile or two when he pulled into a turnout and waved me by. I gave him a big thank you wave and motored on by. That made my day.

I'm too lazy to type, so I just did a copy-paste from Sebastian's post since he already hit the key points in the "itinerary"  :-)

Booked for DVD, the Kernville pre-game, and 2 chili dogs at the happy burro.

Was in Beatty last week. They building a new casino and Steampunk in the Old Exchangeclub building on corner. Parking lot on southside full of materials. New BbQ place has no alcohol and you build your own sandwich on two pieces of white bread. Meat ok. KC’s is now Hiway 95 Tavern. Didnt go in. Mel’s was closed at noon on a Tuesday: no sign posted as to why. Happy Burro snd Sourdough and funky place on corner open; didnt enter any of em. The times they are a changin’, Bob.

Carla and I are in. Going to Parlay Wednesday and Thursday to fly fishing the Upper Kern River. See all of you usual and unusual suspects Thursday evening at Kernville Lodge.

We will be joining Brian T for Chili Dogs and Coors at the Happy Burro to also honor Al.

I may be showing my ignorance here, but what is a "Steampunk", and what is it used for?

I don’t know how one would build a “steampunk” - it’s a term used to describe an aesthetic. If you’re familiar with Jules Vernes, imagine the set and costumes for 20,000 leagues or around the world in 80 days, but ramped up and extra kitschy. When I first encountered the term people seemed to be after hand made functional pieces, but now it’s largely just the look of handmade/old time/clockwork looking stuff.

Well work strikes again.  Most likely out.  I'm keeping my reservation for now hoping they come to their senses and stop making decisions based on fear instead of reality and let us out early enough for me to make it up Fri or Sat.  But most likely not.  I'm gonna have to make up for all these missed trips and events in 1 year and 24 days when I'm retired.  Have the adult beverage of your choice and a chilidog for me.  Be safe everybody!

Thanks for organizing that Don. Did they say if they're doing any outside seating? As much as we'd love to, I don't think D and I will be sitting down to a group table indoors this year.

Is anyone heading down to Kernville through the Bay Area?

I’m kind of looking forward to having another Shakin’ Burger in Parkfield, so I’ll probably head down through there again.

Anyone want to join?

Yes sir - haven't decided whether I wanted to do Parkfield (via either 25 or the Big Sur > Nacimiento) or mosey down along the foothills. Liked last year's route over Nacimiento. Dana and I just rode it (and 25) again a couple of months ago.

Parkfield Cafe has a bunch of outdoor seating for lunch and grubby border collies to accompany us.

Messaged the VFW today, they said no problem setting up some outdoor dining......they’re glad to accommodate us!
