My personal favorite was Val Demings but I didn’t get a vote.  That’s ok though because Joe didn’t get one either.

I have had Harris in my top three candidates, but never in my 1 slot.  It was a good choice for Biden and that is what counts.  Funny thing is after almost 4 years of numerous blunder picks by the President, it seemed strange to observe a process of proper vetting of several well qualified candidates...and to keep it from leaking as well!  I can get used to it though.

true it is....word is Esper is now on way out.  I’m holding my nose and voting straight Dem this year.  Living in Georgia it won’t make a difference but I’m now inclined to burn it all down. With few exceptions all Rep members of Congress give a crap about what’s good for the country, they just don’t want to be in Trump’s crosshairs. Biden already looks like he’s on life support but if it takes Harris steering the ship so be it.  It’s that bad...

And the current President needs one as well.  As Trumps financial records are finally going to NY AG and Grand Jury, he may get one as well.  I think that handler's title will be Warden.

Still don’t believe he was stupid enough to be a tax cheat and then run for President (and win) but if this ever goes the distance and something is found, can a president pardon himself?

Serious question and I know, I could’ve looked it up but..:dontknow:

edit

scratch that last one...

Self-pardons

During the Watergate scandal, PresidentNixon's lawyer suggested that a self-pardonwould be legal, while the Department of Justice issued a memorandum opinion on August 5, 1974, stating that a presidentcannot pardon himself.

Looking at the Nixon case, the DOJ issued an “opinion”...Heck, just like a-holes everybody has one of those. Trump is going to pardon himself, you watch!

Trump not cheat on his taxes? That statement gave me a belly laugh!  These are state charges,  so William "Roy Cohn" Barr has no way to interfere and state criminal convictions can't be pardoned by a President.   Trump and likely son Eric may have the same handler, the Commissioner of NY State Department of Corrections.

Just a prediction here, if the President is re-elected on Nov 3rd, there’s gonna be a fire sale on Antifa masks come the following day.

Haha, One of the Trump hack lawyers here was videoed running into the election commission to file West's voter signature papers to put him on the ballot here before the deadline. Oops, too slow, he didn't make the ballot here.  Trump will just have to stick with disenfranchising the vote through the traditional means of limiting voting hours and locations in the urban areas.

Haha, that's funny.   Mueller was blocked from looking at the financials, and that is where a lot of criminal behavior will be revealed.  With Trump loosing every court battle to prevent turning  over his taxes it will eventually happen...and then we will really see what happens!

Doesn't Antifa stand for antifascist?  While I would tend toward more of the John Lewis nonviolent form of protest I would say I am very much antifascist.  Are you not against fascism?

Certainly against fascism, but since it doesn't exist here in the States since all the leaders are elected by either the local, state or national processes, we have no dictator in charge, no central government with strict controls, no violent suppression of any opposition.  The governmental processes that we have do not allow for fascism......so, the "Antifa" "movement" that currently exist is a movement against what exactly?  It's like the bimbos that protest every year in Asheville, NC topless because they want to be topless, and the news has to remind them that there is no law in NC against women being topless in public........hey, I want to protest something that doesn't exist!!

It's all about an alignment to a certain group that will take an idea and twist it......Antifa may technically be short for anti fascist, but they aren't protesting/rioting fascism, IMO, they are against anything that they don't agree with, whether legal or otherwise.

I was alluding to a governmental point of leadership, not Antifa's "violent suppression of opposition",....they kinda be like protesting themselves.

I am in agreement, mostly.  I think the while we do not have fascism today running the government, the US seems to edging closer to it and the number of people who have an extreme nationalist world view get too close to embracing fascism for my comfort.  Whether the ranks of those with this ideology has grown in recent years, or they were always there and for what ever reason feel emboldened to show this terrible belief are voting.  Who knows if the US goes over such a tipping point, and my wish is all the folks not on either the extreme left or right turn out to put reasonable representatives in office. I remain concerned because it seems we are selecting wackadoodles on both sides, Progressives that have highly socialist points of view, Conservatives that are members of QAnon, and they are getting voted in!  Good grief, I get that we get the government we deserve through the voting process, but both Repubs and Dems are killing off their moderate wing leaving me with no choice.  At this point I'll take any left or right of center functioning adult!

Fully agree that the violent and destructive actions of those that this administration widely throws the Antifa blanket over need to be held accountable, but not all are Antifa, and I have read some uncorroborated claims that far right extremists are dressing up like Antifa and promulgating some of the violence.  Sadly, in all the fear mongering about how our cities are violently out of control by the extreme left, what has been downplayed is the extremist right has caused more deaths in the US than antifa and nothing seems to being done about these domestic terrorists under this administration.

Data ?

some cities do seem to be out of control.   Commonalities exist WRT political leadership in those places.

Google machine has plenty more, but this one from right leaning Forbes gives a balanced account over a 18 year period.

I get there are extremists left and right.  Your quote capture was to ask for data showing that the extreme right has caused more deaths than the extreme left.  I provided one of numerous links supporting that statement.  Did I miss something? The link you provided only details the obvious, that Antifa is a loose knit bunch of people that are mostly anarchists but says nothing about their movement being particularly intent on killing anyone.  I'll leave it as I supported my statement with data, and again I ask where is the the fear and outrage from this administration, or the right in general, about the more deadly violence of the extreme right.

You bet there has been plenty of domestic terrorism in the last three years and it has escalated mostly from the extremist right over the entirety of the Trump administration.  Probably best to ignore this report if you want to believe that Trump is a law and order president.  So on your issue of how current the report is, does June 3, 2020 work for you?  Again, I selected one that takes a balanced approach and looks at domestic terror from left to right.

https://www.csis.org/analysis/escalating-terrorism-problem-united-states

So, after reading this article one might see that when Trump is screaming "he is the law and order president" in the next few months and only focuses on Antifa, but ignores the much more active and deadly right wing extremists, it is BS.  He could care less about law and order and at best he is off target on who is promulgating the threat to America, or even the more cynical view, that Trump doesn't want to piss off a significant part his base and is actively giving the more deadly extreme Right a pass.

Reverse stance? Depends on the complete context and how you want to make it out to fit your position.  He didn't say he would outright ban fracking. He said he wanted to transition out of coal and fracking ( meaning oil extraction ). To me, he is open to energy sources that are cleaner and safer for the environment.

Let me add this: I have no place for ANYONE so trapped in their perfect sense of being right on everything that they cannot change their mind!

So if this is seems like a change in position to some, well so be it. I know all about fracking, and it will be around for a while yet. But like coal, other technologies are going to make it less attractive to do in the coming years.

Senility? I wouldn't bring that up. Trump may in fact be worse off than Biden. Trumps constant lying, fantasies, and fear that everyone is out to get him likely show a mental state not so good.

Tewks, you read my mind. Trump will follow his good friend Putin and change laws so he can stay in office. He is already setting up to claim the election is a fraud, so even if he loses he has plans to remain in power.

And he’s going to end Social Security, Medicare, ban women from voting, kill puppies and kittens, murder his own son,  arrest/kill ALL people of color, and the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on etc etc

Oh, and the IRS lets him cheat on his taxes. Every year

I’ll bet you lunch sometime in the future that he’ll leave office gracefully if he loses.

My question and most concerned citizens have is, why the mass mailing of ballots now, in 2020? AFAIK it’s never been done like this in history. COVID?

It’s been proven to be a cluster-fork in smaller races and I fear it will end up being a big cluster-fork in November and possibly gettIng you a free lunch. :)
