Throttlemeister install for R1150RT

I purchased a throttlemeister from this forum for my '04 R1150RT and did not receive the instructions with it. Does anyone have the instructions for the 1150RT?

or Seems pretty simple so....

I am a little worried I will tear up the heated coil when peeling back the grips installing the friction tube since they seem to be "stuck" to the grips. Any way to do this without my "more brawn that brains" usual way of doing things?

Also I am assuming for the RT that the "ends" and the "friction tube" are the only items needed (no spacers, washers, or inner adapter) that I saw on a set of instructions for the Ducati ST4.

Is the installation different on the 1150 and the 1100? I didn't have any friction tube to worry about when I put the Throttlemeister on my 1100. Just pull the old bar ends of and screw on the shiny new chrome Throttlemeister. I didn't even have to mess with the adjustment the first time. Since then, I have had to adjust it about once a year.

Maybe I am missing some components. I have the two new bar ends and the firction tube only. I do I adjust it.

You adjust it by moving the whole throttle and switch assembly closer to or further from the bar end. I just set the Throttlemeister at about 1/3 way on, then slide the whole throttle assembly up against it. There is a phillips screw securing a cover plate on the switch assembly. Remove that cover plate and you can see an allen head screw that fixes the assembly to the handlebars. All of this is for the 1100 of course and probably differs in detail on the 1150.

This is as good as the instructions you will get with the Throttlemeister. I just put them on my 1150RT this week. The instructions tell you to remove the 3 screws in the handle and peel back the button cover, but doesn't explain why - and the why is to slide and position the handle in relation to the Throttlemeister inner sleeve. As above - put the Throttlemeister on first, and you may find you don't have to move the handle at all.

I received small spacers that fit inside the Throttlemeister. I have an '02 RT with heated grips, plus mine are the larger/heavier ends. If yours are not the larger ends you probably have all you need.

The Throttlemeister is simple - when you rotate the end, an inner sleeve pushes against the end of the throttle. If yours does this - you've installed it correctly.

I just installed a Throttlemeister last night. I don't understand your comments. You sure you got the right parts? I don't recall a friction tube.

You take off the old bar end weight, and screw in the new Throttlemeister. Next, check for proper operation when engaged. Then, importantly, you check for proper operation with the grips heated. On mine, I found that the throttle was binding even with the Throttlemeister not engaged. If so, then you have to loosen the throttle/brake assembly clamp, and adjust the clearance of the grip to the Throttlemeister.

I'm sure that Throttlemeister would probably e-mail you the instructions, or I could scan mine for you.

Forgot to follow up on this.

Thanks everyone for the correct help. No washers, friction tube, or adaptors needed.

Unscrew the 3 or 4 screws to remove the switch assembly. Loosen the hex head bolt and slide the throttle assembly to the throttelmeister.

piece of cake.

I also just installed a Throttlemeister on my 04RT. However I did not move the switch assembly. Instead, I re-did the shims to get the correct feel. I dont really see the point in moving the switch assembly about 2mm. Or am I really missing somthing?

Snowy.

RE: TM problem: By now your problem is probably solved...but if not,I went to their website, called the 800 number and got oral help, and a set of instructions mailed to me. Nice people. Stu
