FART 2020 Routes: Fart 2020 Routes

 

Mr. Zoom's Last Ride

There are two slightly altered routes that include the Foothills Parkway, the destination of the Final Ride - S Dillsboro (Mr. Zoom) 113 and E Switzerland (Mr. Zoom) 125. We plan to leave the hotel at 7am from the parking area next to the pool. Mr. Zoom's wife - (who is traveling from Oklahoma) and sons will follow in their car. We will park and dismount on one of the overlooks, and some ashes will be spread. Riders can then continue on their route. All are welcome - it's a short ride to the Foothills Parkway.

IN!!  But I guess you already knew that.   Thanks Dave.  My Travel Itinerary Director will be lining me up hotel accomodations.  Arriving Thursday, mid-morning and departing Sunday.

I think I'm gonna  try to make this event and ride with the East...  time will tell COvid and all.

I really hope it works out, we would love to have you! I have always wondered what engineering marvels your bike might have similar to your avatar!  The roads ARE great down that way, and the folks attending aren't so bad either. :90:

I have a group of 3, possibly 4 that will be riding that area June 21-25.  We'll be staying in Newport and riding some of these routes.

Thanks Dave,  I have been working from home but I will be back in the office probably next week.  We are still in lock down but since I train techs in ventilator maint/repair I am kind of in demand right now.  We have to cut our class size in half to keep up with distancing rules so I will be really busy for the rest of the year and probably in to next spring.  Let me know as soon as you have dates for Start 2021 so I can schedule time off.  Seat time will be here and there as I can fit it in. Post plenty of pics from the the gathering please.

HI Ydo! Sorry for the delayed response, for some reason my notifications stopped. :4331:

These events tend to be loosely structured, allowing riders to make their own way, on their own schedule. There are a few 'constants', however.

 

1) At the end of the day, the hotel parking lot becomes a social gathering with riders sharing their version of the day's ride and other stories, often while sampling adult beverages. There is a enthusiastic Bourbon contingent and allegedly we have some home distillers in our midst. One provides their own refreshments - but plenty of sharing takes place..

 

2) Our newest tradition is Endobob's Pizza Extravaganza on Thursday night. This happens at the hotel and compliments item 1 above. The cost is whatever the pizza itself costs.

 

3) Friday night we have a group meal together. Details for the meal are announced about a month before the event.

 

It's worth noting that we do not organize any rides per se. We will provide several GPS routes of differing lengths that start at the hotel and include a lunch stop and 2 or 3 return options of differing distances. Most riders will utilize the routes provided, some may do their own thing entirely. If ones doesn't have GPS, it easy enough to fall in with other that do. We leave it up to riders to make their own way as far as rides go. Some riders ride alone, some in very small groups and some in small groups. Finding a group to ride with is easily done - generally during the parking lot social the night before or early the next morning. Some leave at the crack of dawn, most leave at more normal hours and still others need their beauty sleep - so there's something for everyone. At the end of the day, the various routes, destinations and small group dynamics make the perpetual parking lot social a highlight of these events. Routes will be posted about a month before the event.

 

Others may chime in with some more insight or to add on something I've left out.

After the initiation ceremony and the baby goats it is all easy after that.   Look forward to meeting you.

I am a tentative In for 16 Sep - 20 Sep.  My critical Care class was canceled due to the COVIDs, so there is a 50% chance they will reschedule in Sep.  I will not know until Mid August what the deal will be. 

Hope to see everyone in Sep.
