ludacris
Is any one aware of a company that makes longer bars for the 12RT? I find myself frequently riding with my hands out on the end weights as it is a more natural position for me and would like to install some bars that were 1 1/2" - 2" wider per side. If no one is currently making bars, would there be interest in them if I could find a solution? Link to comment
CraCol
possibly interested, though I'd like the bars down and forward an inch or so as well.. Link to comment
Quint
Ludacris I'm not sure if this helps, but I did the same thing you did. I often held on to the bar ends just to relax my posture. Someone suggested I get a set of RT bar risers from: http://www.suburban-machinery.com/R1200RT.htm They raise the bars by about 1" and move them back by 0.5" or so, having the effect of creating a more relaxing position. (They also have the effect of improving mirror visibility.) I now don't put my hands on the bar-ends, and I am amazed how much more comfortable I am. Link to comment
keithb
Man I was just thinking the same thing. I had the chance to ride an 05 R1200GS on Sunday for about 30 miles and I really liked the width of the bars. When I got back on my 05 RT it felt like my arms were being pushed together. As I was riding a couple of times I caught myself looking down and wondering how I could widen them about 2" per side. What a coincidence. If you figure it out let me know what you came up with. Isettanut
I have had an idea on lowering and moving the bars forward. I just never spent the time to do it. It would be rather easy to do. I like the RT but miss the slight forward lean. I ride about 70% with feet on the rear pegs. Moving forward only to shift and or brake the rear wheel. Leon 05RT Link to comment
David_S
You might want to check here. Someone posted that these are supposed to fit the RT also. I had 1150 bar risers on my 1200RT so anything that will fit the 1150 "should" work on the 1200 also. I don't know who made mine because I bought them used but they set my bars apart about a 1/2" wider on each side rather than just up and back. The risers that just bring them up and back look like they could be drilled and tapped to set the bars wider also. Link to comment

Isettanut
After inspectng the switch gear on the 05 RT I cannot see an easy way to lower the bars while moving them foward and out as I previously posted. The addition of ESA switchgear will not allow it. It is possible on 02-04RT. Leon 05RT. Link to comment
nbooth
If I install handlebar risers on a R12RT, do I need to lengthen the cables too? Link to comment
ludacris
Looks like I'm out for handle bar mods for the RT. I just traded it for a 12GS Adventure. Link to comment
