Visited Beatty...

A friend and I decided to go to Beatty. The whole thing was kind of surreal. Going through DV and Paniment Valley we only saw 5-6 cars, and they were the law or rangers. Like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Stopped at Stovepipe Wells for lunch. No one there except two clerks.

One thing was apparent, they're serious about people not stopping. All the side roads were blocked with k-rails, none of that sissy tape or traffic cones.

Badwater Road was blocked., Dantes peak etc.

The Exchange Club hotel was shut down for renovation. Mel's Diner as well.

They're building a new restaurant in the parking lot of the Exchange Club, a BBQ place.

I stayed in the Death Valley Inn. It was pretty nice. The pool was closed though, bummer.

Thanks for that report, yes - sounds surreal.

 

I REALLY hope things are more or less back to normal by November.

With the UN postponed by a year, and lot of the spring & summer  riding going down the toilet, the 2020 DVD is quickly becoming the one big ride event to look forward to.

IN!  Including the PBR and Happy Burro chili dogs.  And if the Exchange Club is still closed and you want to do a pre-run to find a good landing place I'm also in.
