RT oil check on computer

I purchased 05 RT last fall and have only 3500 miles on it. Recently noticed the oil "check" indicator does not appear until at least 6 miles into ride. The "---" indicator stays on longer than the manual indicates it should. I assume it is a faulty oil sensor, but am concerned about engine damage if it is something else. Any advice?

Sounds like normal operation to me -- no worries!

You say 6 miles, but I'm guessing the warning light won't come on until the temperature is up to operating specs rather than a particular distance.

You haven't read the manual properly. Unless the bike is up to working temp, stationary and idling for a few seconds, the check isn't completed. It's quite possible that you could ride 250 miles (probably not on UK roads) without the check ever being made.
