Get ready to watch a truly beautiful adventure motorcycle travel film. Daniel Rintz and his soul mate, Josephine “Joey” Flohr, are about to release what we consider an overlanding masterpiece. If you’re wondering where you know Daniel’s name from, then you’ve probably seen his multiple award-winning film, “Somewhere Else Tomorrow.” If not, get a copy or stream it now! But be sure to see it before “Somewhere Else Together.”

As told in his first film, Daniel originally set off to ride around the world, essentially without any idea where he’d get the resources to pull it off. The premise was that if he had an open mind and was prepared to have a go at whatever it took, then it just might work. And work it did, but towards the end of that journey he hit an unexpected fork in the road—a vivacious, fun and enthusiastic traveler nicknamed “Joey.”

The new duo set off to ride the length of the Americas; from Alaska to the southernmost tip of Argentina, as well as the African continent. But with Joey on her BMW R80GS, and Daniel on his R1200GS, they had to get to Alaska first. What happens next, and so early in the trip, would have some riders giving up and going home. Thanks to their resourcefulness, the close-knit world of motorcyclists and kind folks everywhere, the issues were sorted, and they managed to continue. But with their funds depleted, the pressure to find ways to support their journey became increasingly urgent. And for riders looking to do something similar, the “work thread” woven into the film is something which opens a world of possibilities for the viewer.

With stunning footage Daniel and Joey chronicle their journey, the people met, the challenges, the opportunities taken, the moments of awe, and those so important “I didn’t know that!” moments that no overlanding trip is without. With a very fine balance of learning, challenge, danger and laughter, the adventurers have wonderfully captured the essence of long-distance adventure travel. As some of the spoken word is in German, Spanish or French, there are subtitles, but they’re well done and easy to follow. I also enjoyed witnessing the couple’s dynamics along with the insight into how they were able to travel together, 24 hours a day, for the three years of their journey.

What also impressed me was how their thousands of hours of experiences have been so cleverly edited together so the viewer has the feeling of riding along. You are there as they battle with decisions, tackle some incredibly tough roads, and meet truly awesome people along the way. And, you celebrate with them every time they succeed. One moment that especially hit home was when they reached Ushuaia and were again faced with the traveler’s problem of “What’s next?” A favorite quote from the film is, “We haven’t been everywhere yet, but it’s on our list.”

“What’s next?” turned out to be traveling the length of Africa; a dramatic decision as they are once again almost out of funds. Africa and its many challenges, combined with the need to work along the way, almost broke them—a reminder of what putting everything on the line to experience life is all about.

Don’t even hesitate to do it—stream this film as soon as it’s available. I’ve no doubt that you’ll watch it over and over while thoroughly enjoying every minute. Daniel and Joey’s film captures an honest, extremely realistic and fascinating insight into the world of overlanding—it’s storytelling at its best, and you won’t be disappointed. The official release is coming soon but was not available at the time of this review. Keep on eye on the link below or AdventureMotorcycle.com for updates.
