From a live concert recorded close to 30 years ago :jaw:

27 minutes of the early and original Eagles ... and they showcase a couple of tunes that have endured for many years after (Peaceful Easy Feeling / Take It Easy)

It's a media that you used to listen to and it would change tracks mid-song of a good song:dontknow:

For the longest, I did not know the below was the first part of a song:

Oh mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law
Lawman has put an end to my running and I'm so far from my home
Oh mama, I can hear your crying you're so scared and all alone
Hangman is coming down from the gallows and I don't have very long  (click-click):27:

Leo Kottke (full album)

His seminal outing ...kicking off a career as an amazing guitarist who not only is a master  with the instrument but a prolific tune writer as well.  Seen him many times .... a truly gifted  musician.  This and "One Guitar, No Vocals" ... can listen over an over.

No video ... only music.  Bad out of focus shot of album cover... but oh well, that's what was attached  ... some of these tunes he still plays in his concerts more than 25 years later.  If you are a fan of guitar soloists, put this on in the background and just let it play while you're doing something else.

Les Claypool took up where Frank Zappa left off!

I agree but not 100%. Many jumped on the FZ train but few could pull it off with as much avant garde as FZ. (forgive the verbal)

Saw the Reverend Horton open for ZZ Top in a small venue about 10 or 15 years ago. Great show, they tore it up. Made ZZ seem a little tame when they hit the stage afterward.

There are dozen of videos on Youtube of her performing that will leave you scratching your head.  She sang this same song a Capella at age 7 to earn a spot on Norway's got Talent (which she won), but the song that people find most stunning is her performance of I Put a Spell on You.

Tidal will put together "Radio Stations" based on an artist.  Currently, I am listening to Steely Dan Radio.  Lots of stuff I hadn't listened to in years. image.png.c32eaec919e3b859a11cebea495856ee.png

Funny.   I had not listened to much in recent weeks - just been typing away at work while at home, doing Webexes, etc.  So which band did I pick from my library to break the silence?

Steely Dan.

Donald Fagan and Walter Becker were brilliant together and Fagan's not bad on his own (I’ve seen him twice in the last few years). Steely Dan my favorite band from the 70's.

Great information.  On the list I posted, Todd Rundgren came out as someone I had not listened to in a while (since the 80s), that I realized I really enjoyed.

While The Dan is solid always , like Gaucho and Aja- one must listen to The Royal Scam from start to finish . . .

Speaking of Boz Scaggs - Mrs Indy Dave and I caught him at Interlochen a couple of summers ago. Whoa! Boz rocked out some funky blues for about half his show that was a side of him I was unaware of. Most Excellent!

NO INSTRUMENTS!  That is right, this group uses no instruments at all. All sounds are made....by the humans!

Not normally attracted to country music, but talent  makes anything worth listening to!

Continuing on the Tom Waits vibe...

Well I come in on a night train
With an arm full of box cars
On the wings of a magpie
Cross a hooligan night
And I busted up a chifforobe
Way out by the Cocomo
Cooked up a mess a mulligan
And got into a fight

Whistlin past the graveyard
Steppin' on a crack
I'm a mean Mother Hubbard
Papa one eyed jack

You probably seen me sleepin'
Out by the railroad tracks
Go on and ask the prince of darkness
What about all that smoke
Come from the stack
Sometimes I kill myself a jackel
Suck out all the blood
Steal myself a station wagon
Drivin' through the mud

Whistlin past the graveyard
Steppin' on a crack
I'm a mean Mother Hubbard
Papa one eyed jack

I know you seen my headlights
And the honkin' of my horn
I'm callin' out my bloodhounds
Chase the devil through the corn
Last night I chugged the Mississippi
Now that suckers dry as a bone
Born in a taxi cab
I'm never comin' home

Whistlin past the graveyard
Steppin' on a crack
I'm a mean Mother Hubbard
Papa one eyed jack

My eyes have seen the glory
Of the draining of the ditch
I only come to baton rouge
To find myself a witch
I'm-ona snatch me up a
Couple of em every time it rains
You see a locomotive
Probably thinkin' its a train

Whistlin past the graveyard
Steppin' on a crack
I'm a mean Mother Hubbard
Papa one eyed jack

What you think is the sunshine
Is just a twinkle in my eye
That ring around my fingers
Just the fourth of July
When I get a little bit lonesome
And a tear falls from my cheek
There's gonna be an ocean in
The middle of the week

Whistlin past the graveyard
Steppin' on a crack
I'm a mean Mother Hubbard
Papa one eyed jack

I rode into town on a night train
With an arm full of box cars
On the wings of a magpie
Cross a hooligan night
I'm-ona tear me off a rainbow
And wear it for a tie
I never told the truth
So I can never tell a lie

Whistlin past the graveyard
Steppin' on a crack
I'm a mean Mother Hubbard
Papa one eyed jack

Joe Frickin' Friday

Skáldcore: Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song," except it's actually sung in Old Norse.  Less intense that the original, but considerably more ominous.  Valhalla, we're coming:
