greenrider
Thanks! This website shows it uses the same wrench as my former R1100RT . Soon realized thats not the case. https://bmwmotorcycleaccessories.com/thin-wall-spark-plug-wrench-for-bmw-r1200gs-r1200rt-f800gs-f650-k12-r1150/ Link to comment
6speedTi
Any 3/8 drive standard 6 point deep socket will fit nicely through the valve cover and onto the sparkplug. Link to comment
Pappy35
I was on my phone and in a hurry before. You NEED to use a thin walled 19 14mm (9/16's works too and is the one I use) socket. I got mine for $7 at Autozone so it's not an expensive, specialized tool. Use something else and you risk getting it jammed in the recess. This happened to someone on one of these forums (I forget who or where or I would have posted a link) and you DO NOT want this to happen to you. Link to comment

lkchris
As suggested, this socket needs to be a thin wall version as a normal socket won't fit the recess for the lower plugs. The BMW special tool is Hazet 4766-2 https://chadstoolbox.com/hazet-4766-2-spark-plug-wrench/ https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-n54-n55-spark-plug-socket-83300495560 https://www.amazon.com/Baum-Tools-121220-Point-Socket/dp/B00UC4HX36 Link to comment
Pappy35
I'll never understand why people will pay $50 for a tool that can be had for $7. There are instances, like torque wrenches and such where one is buying precision, but a spark plug socket isn't one of them. Link to comment
