Add a wall

When this house was built around 1980, there was no coat closet.....so our fix was a plank afixed to the wall with hooks, akin to a school setting (wife's a teecher, I think that's where her idea for that came from), anyway, we had dead space, so let's build a closet instead,........it's a work in progress.

We'll get the remaining sheetrock on tomorrow, hopefully frame the door in and then it's up to her to mud it all in, (yes, she does the drywall work).  She's not decided if the ladderwell will have wallpaper or paint, as you see in the photos, it did have wall paper.

Crafty couple!

90% of the work in our house is done by us.  The only time we call a "professional" is if we want it done quickly or it's waaaay outside our scope.

Well Done!  I just love the creative ways you solved the reach problem in the stairwell.....:5185:

Ya, with that,.......you see all the wires on the left side, well, that is where my modem and router are located.  I installed all of that with a 6ft fiberglass ladder stacked on paint cans for the leveling of the ladder.........as time had passed, I had to get back up on that contraption to do some troubleshooting,.......well, gravity works in mysterious ways and a broken fiberglass ladder, a hole in the sheetrock and a nice thigh bruise caused me to seek out the adjustable gorilla ladder on craigslist for $30.........sometimes, you just gotta stack cans.

WOW!  Glad you didn't suffer more damage....to either the house OR yourself!  OH, the stories I could tell on myself when necessity was the Mother of invention...(involved painting and ladders and other assorted unmentionable stuff!)

Getting closer, it's now a closet, just adding the finishing touches.

When you have a fully insured wife and sketchy scaffolding:
