Columbia Omni Heat Base Layer

Stir

Recommended Posts

My wife bought me a thermal top and pants at Columbia.  It sat in a box in my drawer until this morning when I HAD to go out and ride in 38 degree weather.  It's thin with a metallic lining.  I thought that was interesting.  As I was finishing getting dressed, I started to get pretty warm.  I put my jeans on, my jacket on and off I went.  I have to say, I'm very impressed!  My hands and face still froze with the near freezing temps, but my core stayed pretty toasty.  Even the grip warmers on the blaze setting wasn't enough to keep my fingers warm.  The portion of my arms that were in the air stream also got cool, but all in all, excellent warming gear!  If I had worn winter gloves and jacket, I would have been perfectly warm.

Anyway, two thumbs up. or as Moshe likes to say, 5 wheelies.

They have been lining jackets with a similar metallic fabric for several years now. I’m not a Columbia fan based on some bad experiences with some jackets back in the day, but that reflective insulation does seem to work really well.
