KeyLime
I'm beginning to plan a visit to Austin, in April, to Circuit of The Americas for the MotoGP races. First time for me and I'll probably tike my motorhome. So I'm looking for any help I can find with regard to the motorhome facilities there and seating. Do general admission tickets give me access to all viewing location? For those of you who have been, are there turns that offer the best viewing? The pics show lots of lawn seating too. I'd just like to feel a bit prepared and not blow money on tickets I don't need. I plan on spending all three days and am already excited. Link to comment
Skywagon
Wright...I've been every year. General admission gives you access to the entire grounds, vendors, food, etc. The viewing area is limited to self serve lawn seating. I did that the first year. It wasn't very crowded then and it was pretty easy to find a place to sit. Fast forward to now. There are over 100,000 folks who come. Lawn seating is very crowded. Notwithstanding your motorhome....Sitting in one of the stands is the place to see the race. There is no place you can see the entire race so your thought of which curve is spot on. When I was working we were a sponsor of Moto II so I had executive village seating. You can't get there unless a vendor or rider lets you in. The next best thing is to join as a member but it's pricey. The member gets you access to the grandstands. Your view is the long straight away, start/finish line, and the top of the hill curve #1. You can also see that from the general admission grass area but forewarned very crowded. Next is the stands which I prefer. We sit at curve 15. We see them coming down the back straightaway (although distant) and around 2 tight curves where there is often passing. This is where Marquez crashed out last year if you are familiar with that race. Motorhome....separate area. I haven't done that but have walked over there. It is on the complete opposite side of most of the arena. I think, but not sure, many of the motorhome folks can see the back straightaway from their camp...again not sure. Those sights go quickly so if your intent is to go by motorhome sign up early. We were going to rent a motorhome and stay there one year but by the time I piddled around all the sites were gone. We stay with friends in Pflugerville...fellow motor enthusiast. If you ride your bike, parking is free. If you come by cage it is ~$20 day and be prepared to walk a long way to your seats. My best advice is...get seats for all 3 days if coming without motorhome. If coming with motorhome you probably need seats buy not sure. I've had good luck writing to them and getting answers to questions. Hope that helps a little.... P.S. If you ride a Duc...they let you ride it into the stand areas as they reserve a large lawn area just for Duc's. Link to comment
