Engine balance shaft

I’m new to the oil heads having recently acquired a 1997 RT.

my question is: when did BMW start using balance shaft(s) in the boxer engines? I’m guessing 2005?

I found this by looking at parts diagrams at MAX BMW parts fiche. A major source of information for bikes and what parts fit what bikes, besides just buying parts.

As far as I can remember in  2004, in the 2004 1200GS. The 1200GS was released for production before the 1200RT. It was a single compensating shaft (balance shaft)  that ran inside the accessory shaft.
