Sonor
I freely admit to NOT being a wrench. While I understand many functions of autos etc, I am not good at wrenching. That said, I have a quick question regarding my wife's 1996 Civic. The engine does not burn oil, runs like a champ, and has 203K miles on it. My wife is NOT going to get rid of the car. However, I did notice that the engine is leaking oil at the crankshaft pulley area directly above the oil pan. Does this mean an engine rebuild or can that area just accept a new gasket without a rebuild? (I think I know the answer, but have to ask) Link to comment
MikeB60
Most likely the oil pump seal. Just did this on a 2001 civic along with an oil pan gasket. Rebuild not necessary completely doable in the driveway. Lots on info on the web. 1 Link to comment
Hosstage
Talk to your local independent garage and get an estimate, then pay them to repair it. Save your marriage... 1 Link to comment
