Energica shows off an update naked sportbike in the Eva Ribelle as announced from the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show. Rebel, in English, this Energica benefits from a larger-capacity 21.5 kilowatt-hour battery cell paired to a oil-cooled synchronous motor rated at 145 hp (107 kilowatts) and 158 pound-feet torque, says Energica. Top speed is limited to 125 mph.

The lithium-polymer-type battery was developed using Energica’s experience in the burgeoning MotoE prototype race class, that tours with the MotoGP World Championship.

“We are proud to present the technological advancement and innovation on all of our 2020 models which we achieved in the last two years thanks to our commitment to MotoE,” Energica’s Chief Technical Officer Giampiero Testoni says. “This is the battery pack with the biggest capacity and power ever installed on a production electric motorcycle.”

Built in Modena, Italy, the bug-eyed Ribelle sits on a lipstick red steel-trellis-type frame with an upside-down alloy swingarm. It wears an adjustable inverted fork and a link-less shock mounted vertically between the swingarm and frame.

Triple Brembo-clamped hydraulic disc brakes slow down this 595-pound motorcycle and it rolls on cast aluminum rims from OZ Racing shod in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III rubber.

This naked electric motorcycle features four riding modes (Urban, Eco, Rain, and Sport) with three levels (plus off) of regenerative braking to help return energy into the battery during deceleration.

A 4.3-inch TFT color display keeps tabs on vehicle settings, and includes GPS and Bluetooth functionality. A smartphone app allows the rider to communicate with his or her motorcycle and monitor and adjust various machine settings. It also shows nearby charging stations. Six-level adjustable traction control and Bosch-powered ABS are standard as is cruise control.

Energica Eva Ribelle Range

The Italians claim a range of 248.5 miles during “city” rides and 111.8 miles in an “extra-urban” environment. An onboard three-watt (Level 2) charger conforms to SAE J1772 and IEC 62196-2 settings and the battery can be fully recharged in about one hour using a DC-equipped fast-charging station (CCS1 in the US and CCS2 in Europe).

Eva Ribelle buyer’s have their choice between Stealth Grey and Rosso Corsa colorways, and each motorcycle comes with a three-year, 31,068-mile warranty. US pricing has yet to be announced.
