Unexpected acquisition of R1250RT-P

Well,  I had been in the market for an RT-P for some time, but I was looking for something less expensive and older when this one was inexplicably listed for sale by a recently retired Atlanta Moto Officer.  Of course he wanted to recoup his purchase price on it.  Understandable since it only had 600 miles on the odometer.  The problem with RT-Ps is that they get butchered in the demil process, often causing electrical problems for years.  This one only needed to have the blue lights changed to white.

My previous RT was a 2004.  I have been on GSAs since 2008.

Heading into the Appalachians tomorrow to continue getting to know her a little better.

With all that gear still on the bike -- including the lights even though they are no longer blue -- you will have a free road in front of you as everyone will be slowing down and moving over!

This is true.  But also irritating as everyone slows down around me sometimes trapping me in their law abiding behavior.  I like to be just a little above the limit and in open space.   Not complaining though.  The lizard part of the brain seems predisposed to seeing police bikes.  I am not overlooked as readily as on my GSA.

Let me know if you change your mind and it comes up for sale.  I have a 2016 now and use it for escort work.  Getting up there in the miles and would love to upgrade to the 1250.

Took me 4 years to find this bike. Plan to keep it at least that long.  It will have almost 200,000 miles by then.  Three weeks in and I am up to 4,000 already.  This is the slow season.

Drivers are twice as stupid when on mine. Looking in mirror at you, not paying attention to surrounding traffic, slowing down, then act like fools and a tad of road rage when they finally realize you are not PD.

I have over 6,000 miles on it now.  So far I guess I have been lucky that they just pile up behind me.
