Whip Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 After reading about several accidents involving motorcycles and cars a link popped up for this jacket. They ain’t exactly cheap. I don’t know? What say you?
wbw6cos Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Pretty cool. They already have something similar for the rear of a helmet. I noticed the video was shot at night. Wonder if they have the same impact during a bright Las Vegas day.
Bill_Walker Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Rule: be as visible as you can be, and then still ride like you're invisible. You may recall past comments from some of our firefighter members about drivers failing to see their big red trucks festooned with multiple flashing lights and with sirens activated. I think this jacket might be helpful for riding at night, particularly if you ride a bike that doesn't have much power for auxiliary lights, or room for lights or extra reflective material. My 1150RT had that retroreflective stuff on the back of the saddlebags that looks black in daylight but lights up when headlights hit it. But I haven't bothered to install any on my 1200RT because I avoid riding after dark. Between critters and drunks, it's not worth the risk to me. For daylight visibility, I've got Clearwater Darlas with amber lenses mounted on my forks and a Billie auxiliary brake light, plus I wear a white helmet. I haven't run into hi-viz gear that I liked.
szurszewski Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 That’s really cool. I’d primarily still want a safe and comfortable jacket, but if they made such a jacket, or I could add lights to a jacket of my choice, that would be a great increase in visibility. 1
