Walt Morning Walt Depends on what's wrong with it. As a rule the fix (repair) is fairly easy, it the finding out what's wrong part that can take some time & effort. So lets start with-- tell us what's the gauge presently doing? Is it stuck on full?, or stuck on empty?, or stuck on a part reading?, or ???????. There are a number of things that can go wrong with the BMW 1150 GS fuel gauge so wee need ALL the information from you about the gauge that that you can furnish. With it being a new bike to you then we have no gauge history so that hinders the guessing part somewhat so lets start with what is the gauge presently doing?
wqbusch Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 Good morning sir. The fuel guage shows empty. Tank is full. Wont know if gas warning light works for a while. Walt
wqbusch Posted July 7, 2019 Author Posted July 7, 2019 I topped it off and set it. Wasn't sure about fuel economy but 175 it is. Thanks

Walt Afternoon Walt With you having a GS & not an RT then the fuel gauge has different internals. Still not much to go on but the usual failure on the 1150 GS is the fuel level float crumbling off of the sensor arm, but that usually brings on the low fuel level light (not always but usually). So this is a distinct possibility. Otherwise possibly an open in the wiring between the in-tank fuel level sensor & the dash readout. Or an open in the in-tank level sensor ground (either internal/external/ or open in the fuel pump plate pass through). With an open ground you usually won't have a low fuel light operation either). You can do some testing externally but to do a complete test of the fuel level sensor circuits will require fuel tank removal & fuel pump plate removal.
