A smattering of solid results - including a pair of top six finishes - saw Redding firmly establish himself as the class' top rookie rider in a category featuring a number of future MotoGP stars, including (fellow rookie) Marc Marquez, Stefan Bradl, Andrea Iannone and Pol Espargaro. Redding's success saw him become the first British winner of a Grand Prix race since Jeremy McWilliams' 250GP success at Assen in 2001, as well as the first home soil winner since 1973. Not only that, at 15 years old Redding became the youngest ever winner of a Grand Prix race It was a record Redding held onto until the 2018 Valencia Grand Prix when Turkish teenager Can Oncu succeeded in winning on his GP debut aged 15 years and 115 days - 55 days younger than the Brit. On the day, Redding was joined on the podium by Mike di Meglio (pictured) - who'd go on to win the title - and a young Marquez.
