Andy Walks
Hi All, My 2012 R1200RT has recently been serviced (main dealer) & seems to have sprung a slight oil leak from a plug I can't identify (please see photo, not my engine but same plug which is red ringed). Looks like it's in the side of the sump, any ideas / suggestions / solutions gratefully received ! Andy W Link to comment

There is a sealing ring under the plug head. Maybe try tightening the plug (caution don't overtighten) , if that doesn't stop the leak then you will probably have to replace the sealing (caution there is a spring & piston under that plug). Pappy35
According to the BMW repair manual the torque for the oil pressure relief valve is 42 newton-meters (31 ft-lbs). Don't go beyond that as you really don't want to strip the case (remember it's just aluminum and that would really ruin your day). Link to comment
Andy Walks
Thanks very much for the advice, now tightened to 42NM (moved slightly) so I will wait & see if this cures it, & order a new sealing ring just in-case ! Thanks again for your help Andy W Link to comment
