Didnt the damn thing come with a liner, wifes GMC did and we’ve thrown cinder blocks at it, along with many loads of gravel/rock……damn spray in should be standard

Dude, its a truck, no need for frilly looks;)  If it aint functional, its useless;)

Edit... No, it was ordered with one from Ford but when it showed up 10ish months later, it didn't have one. :(

That's where the bed liner comes into play. I don't want to scratch up the bed paint. :D

A major cut on retail prices for new Teslas as well, from what I've read.

Turns out your politics, or your side business, can affect your business model.

Maybe part of it but mainly a combination of things, market in general has been softening plus the major players (mainly the Europeans) are up to speed on high end electrics now with competition that wasn’t previously there. Believe I said a few years ago that if/when they decided to commit things were going to change.

One of the major car mags in the 80’s did a survey of F1 driver’s personal cars, all but 2 or 3 drove one of those.

Hagerty is usually a little on the high side but here’s what they think. ‘91 is the last year and considered the most desirable.

Told this story before but I sold one (420SEL) to a Dr. who’s son with a couple buddies endo’d one over a freeway divider guard rail then barrel rolled a couple times into oncoming traffic. He bought another one because the state trooper said if they were in anything else they’d be dead.

One of the best Porsche racecar collections in the world among other pretty amazing stuff, almost like the Smithsonian for cars.

Never knew about this.  Thanks for the head's up; will definitely visit.

Thanks.  We'll have time next week, plus, Rumba Cubano is across Airport Pulling Rd.  Hopeful they still have paella y sweet plantains.

A little backstory. I met Miles Collier in about I978 when we were at a kind of invitational Porsche driving event at Palm Beach raceway. Jurgen Barth had come over from the factory and was teaching us how to do handbrake turns and evasive maneuvers among other things in a 9II. Miles had a new 3.3 Turbo and I had a highly modified '73 9IIS 2.8L.

IMG_E0578 (1).JPG

Since we were already at a drag strip after we were done he wanted to see which was faster. With roughly the same hp, no turbo lag, and about 750 less lbs. it wasn't even close, to say the least he was disappointed but tried not to show it : ) During the 80's we did a good bit of vintage racing together and I was invited to the grand opening of the museum.

The story goes Miles' great grandfather made a small fortune on streetcar advertising in San Francisco then moved to S. Florida and bought a lot of swampland which is now the Everglades and much of Collier County. Miles' father and uncle were avid sportscar racers and had something to do with the first running of Watkins Glen on the downtown street circuit in the late 40's. Miles went to Harvard and in the 60's bought a 356C that evidently started a love affair with the marque. Not your average collector, he has done extensive research not only on the history of Porsche but most other significant marques and is extremely knowledgeable with the added benefit of being approachable and just a nice guy. In the 80’s he was about midway on the Forbes 500 list.

Interesting, I knew about the Sumar Special but hadn't heard that story. I know Chapman Root Jr. from growing up in Daytona in the 60's/70's, he had some good parties at his parents house when they were out of town : ) His great grandfather invented the coke bottle, he had some cool cars (Porsche's, Ferrari's, and a purple Countach), and remember his dad drove an Avanti in the 60's. One year he invited me to the Indy 500 in the Coca Cola suite but like a dumbass I didn't go, just wasn't interested in that type racing at the time, total dumbass : )

Here's the full run, hang on to your lederhosen.. Jackie Stewart called it The Green Hell, think about memorizing it which these current guys obviously have. Believe it showed 338 kmh on the back side, 210mph and it's not exactly straight. I like the warning at the beginning, professional driver on closed course do not attempt, they aren't kidding : )
