Socal is beautiful when everything is green but there may be an upside to less greenery:

Less fuel for the coming fires. I wonder if the snake is closed permanently?  It’s been more than 2yrs since that fire.

Yeah, the bridge was replaced in 6 months or so not the Snake.
Officials had been looking at how to slow down the action there & Woosley fire gave them leverage.
I believe all residences burned (not that but a handful).

My old partner and I rode up the Snake after the fire, before they closed it. He lives near 101 @ Las Virgenes. SC Edison was replacing power lines. There is no reason for it to remain closed now except to restrict the motorcycles from enjoying it. Very sad that they treat citizens like that.

Glad I'm not under the thumb of that power drunk government anymore.............

Thanks for the digging!! I guess it's just down to lack of interest/ poor response by the county..... Residents know they have to reseed after a fire so the slides won't happen or be as severe, but the county doesn't I guess. Good luck with that..... Sad:4316:

I would think la co puts the priority on inhabited areas. Latigo was also closed for a loooong time too but the difference is that Latigo is populated up and down the canyon, whereas the snake on MH has few if any houses. Hence different priorities.

None now (tho it’s been awhile since I rode my bicycle up there).
Before the Woosley fire there were Maybe 1/2 dozen.

They are 20’s. I probably could of used them throughout the coming summer months but they were pretty much on the wear bars. (I realize that’s only a suggestion) ;) :classic_biggrin:

Ran into my old riding buddy Dave at the county dock testing some new surf rods he’s using in a tournament this weekend. Says he’s going to win it, I wouldn’t doubt it : )

First bike crash of the season. Minor injuries. I think what happened is the tractor trailer missed his turn and stopped quickly. The rider rolled up too close for the driver to see him. The truck then backed into the bike. Luckily the rider rolled off the bike before he got pinned under anything.

I’ve over stuffed my picture portfolio so you’ll have to imagine a picture here. :classic_biggrin:

A nice red DCT Goldwing down :( but like I said, minor injuries. :)

I am always leary of truck drivers, so when I get behind one I try to be visible in the mirror.   That type of scenario is always in the back of my mind.   I just never thought I would see it happen to someone else.   Glad to see no personal injury to either driver.

Pretty nimble eh?  Do we see a new set of ADV wheels in William's garage??

We shall see.   I handled it very well, which surprised me.   The off-road portion of the training session was fun and got me leaning toward the dirty side of sport touring, too. :5146:

BMW kind of day, a new Z4 cruises by when we got here, and an old airhead when leaving.

Yesterday, scouting a Trans Fla route. I’ve used four different Gulf locations multiple times and there’s only so many dirt roads across the peninsula so trying something new. Monticello, there is some surprisingly nice stuff between here and there, always knew it just hadn’t had a .reason till now, necessity being the mother of invention and all..  it's where Florida meets the Old South.

Oh and really right now, the purple martins have returned and commenced to public displays of procreation.  Little fella hopped on her plenty of times, I woulda posted pictures, but, well, you know

I think this is my third or forth year and the little 12 apartment house is half+ full with the returning young uns.

I may have to build a bigger house over next winter to replace this store bought one

Winter's hanging on here in AK, and I'm still hauling firewood at the lake house.  Roads were almost clear a couple days ago, and I saw the first rolling moto of the year.  -5º predicted for Big Lake AK tonight, then 40s in a few days.

Whoa.  The first time I scanned that sentence, I read "martinis" instead of "martins", then got to the procreation part and went "wait, what?"
