Life is great north of Hwy 8 Wisconsin!

Found out that a nesting pair of Bald Eagles are in a 100' white pine on a secluded part of our property...will try to get a picture from the pontoon boat tonight or tomorrow.  In the meantime, the Painted Turtles are getting it done.  I've counted around 20 females on shore laying eggs.  Got to watch out mowing grass tomorrow!

Very cool:thumbsup:

Looks like there might have been a lot of water crossing at the beginning.

Eric, on the way up we passed several small waterfalls and crossings. My brother picked that direction of travel for the easy views of them instead of twisting around to see.

John, the wind was blowing quite hard, i'd guess 40mph at the top, maybe more. I thought about faking an injury but, figured they weren't flying. :/ One of the guys on the way down slipped on a loose rock a went down cracking his head. Wasn't needed thankfully but thought about a rescue up there. No helicopter where we were, the manpower needed would have been huge.

Now listen to this one, I had confidence in doing this up until two miles in and about seven hundred vertical feet from the first summit. My thighs cramped up like I've never felt before. I thought I was going to have to turn back but fought through the pain and thankfully, the cramps subsided.

The next six miles weren't a cakewalk for me to be honest (like WTF are you doing honest) and after finishing, I  pretty much said to myself there's no need to ever do that again. But....five days later and I'm thinking that may need another go just to see if I was being a wimp. :dontknow:

Spyder maintenence

I remember the challenge to just get it high enough to change the oil......you're deeper in the weeds it seems!

Started with a oil change. Had to replace a burned out fog lamp and decided to switch all the bulbs to LED.  Lots of Tupperware had to come off but not too bad especially compared to the contortions required to change a headlight bulb on an RT!

Mike, is your wife ok with the stock seat on the Spyder?

I thought it was horrible (too soft) and my hypothesis is, (normally don’t use big words like that btw ) that the snowmobile division of BRP had their fingers in the design.

Meaning the foam density was designed for sub zero temps so it’s firmness is not firm enough for summer use. Now, a counter argument to that is well they build ATVs’ for summer use. I don’t know if the daily miles stack up in the trails as much as on the road. :dontknow:

Anyway, all that to tell you I love the Mustang seat I put on mine.

She is ok with it. There is some sort of gel pad that she puts under a sheepskin on the seat.  I think that because DyAnne is about 110 lbs has something to do with her satisfaction with the seat. I also think it's too soft but I'm only allowed to take test rides after maintenance!

Elephant Lake Ontario.  Plenty of twisty roads between Marmora and Elephant Lake.  Caught a glimpse of an Algonquin wolf on this ride.

Ha!  It's the Antioch Baptist Church, which features in the lyric of the 1973 Charlie Daniels song "Uneasy Rider" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJrRwTTqm0o).  Not having spent much time in the South, I've never seen one before.

It’s on one of our dirt routes thru Georgia so we used to stop for a break, this particular sermon is from the book of Fred.

Not that it hasn’t in the past 100 but sadly the church has begun to noticeably deteriorate in the last 10 years or so.

Earlier today we had a picnic lunch next to the Nantahala River.

The dragon was surprisingly fun in the rain, traffic being sparse (no Porsches were harmed in the process, that we know of)

Wish I could take credit Pat, Molly took that one I’ll tell her you liked it. I’m sure y’all are tired of P cars by now but just a few more from today.

After the Kinsley remembrance gathering, which was very nice btw a couple more muscular cousins showed up,  I think would’ve been to Ken’s liking.

Of course no trip to the mountains is complete w/o a run up to the Parkway via 215, one of Ken’s favorite roads.

I didn’t expect to see this on my evening ride. I have heard about it, but was the 1st time I’d come across it. NASA related.
