In Ciudad Obregon, I was escorted by two state police officers to my hotel.  Fearing for my safety, they told me to stay at the hotel and to not go out after dark.  Obregon is a modern city with lots of restaurants and hotels, but unfortunately the hold of the DTOs is very strong as well.  Me?  I was just a lowly tourist, but I did not have a good feeling about staying here.  At night, I stood on my balcony and listened to the crackle of small arms fire in the distance.

 

I hope these officers are still okay and doing well.
