It's been a busy fall, so I've been in bit of a radio silence here...

But I'm booked, Thursday night in Kern Lodge and Friday to Sunday in the luxurious Exchange Club.

Shakin' Burger in Parkfield would be great on Thursday...

Saturday evening dinner is on! The local VFW has invited us to come join them for drinks and dinner.

There is a menu to order from, looked on line and seems pretty good!

The Sourdough is open again and as always the infamous Happy Burro chili dogs too.

Come on out, you will have a good time

And, as always....What happens in Beatty, stays in Beatty!

See ya there Don J

I have a two bedroom #111 if anyone wants to share.  1 Queen in one room and  1 Double n 1 Twin in the other.

I don't think I sleep walk.

Larry doesn’t sleep Walk  but it’s not Beatty so I’ll sing like a bird about his nocturnal habits.

Hey guys just a quick PSA, seems we will have a great turnout with many new or delinquent faces. Let’s make an extra effort to welcome the newbies while we are in the parking lot making fun of EDDDDs latest bizarre color scheme.

Toddd...

That was my room you walked into at 2:00am.  You used your key (you said)...

I'm gona be checking the key this time because it's the same room.  Though, this time you'll have to deal with both me AND Mikko cause he's room'n with me.

At last saw Edddd and BrianT at spring Torrey this year, so I don't we've have changed much since then.

Do we all bring a tin of cat food for Edddd?

EDDDDS vet has advised he cut back on Costco quality vittles and go more dry food focused. One pound bags of Purina gladly accepted

Hi.

New here, is there a registration for the event?

Hoping to join you all in DV.

I may have a hotel reservation in Beaty.

Thanks.

Rod.

Nope no registration, just show up!

Lots to see and places to go ride, introduce yourself at the very informal  parking lot meet and greet.......

Is this more of an ADV get-together?  I'm just on my RT, and I'd hate to get her dirty, ya know?  Weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend, though!

Definitely street focused. Knobbies are as rare as complete set of teeth are in Beatty.

No........not an ADV event, plenty of great paved roads with excellent  scenery!

However, there is a certain unnamed individual that likes to lead rides way off the main roads......always an adventure!

28 pounds!!!

One of these will get me through the winter.  I'll leave one of my panniers empty in case anyone happens to show up with one.

I should have been about ready to hit the road from Santa Rosa New Mexico this morning after leaving Houston yesterday morning.....but alas I cannot make it this year!

Somebody go to the Dollar store and get some oatmeal cookies to feed the Burros for me please!

I'm sitting in Morro Bay after my first real day of riding in months.  Feels good, real good.  At home it is about 15° F with a low this weekend of 0° F and 80% chance of snow.  The only thing keeping my wife from seizing the bank accounts is I prepaid for snow removal in my absence and she is busy with Xmas markets.

In just before 6:00. The ride home was a beauty. I love the roller coaster like road on hwy120 West of Tonopah. Great fun, turned around and did it again. Monitor Pass was incredible. Carson Pass was too busy. Got the V-1 lit up just North of Bishop, I was a bit more than 20 over but I guess that wasn’t enough to get Mr. Leo excited thankfully. Great to see everyone, until next time.......

Oh yeah.

In.

Had 4 ride alongs on the usual route home  ( Mikko, Joe, Jan and Larry Bump)

95 north to Fish Valley( known as Sebastian’s valley) to 6 and Benton. Then the 120 to 395 and Tioga Pass through Yosemite. Beats the hell out of 99 and I enjoy it every time even though the speed limit is 45 and light traffic. Mikko and I did quite well with a few passes..😜

See you all next year, maybe the new BBQ joint will be good.

I made it back, walked in the door, sat down and promptly fell asleep. All of that spirited riding wore me out. But I can’t wait to do it again.

Thanks to mr duck for another successful DVD’.
And thanks to the Dutchman for the constant badgering about swapping bikes. He had an ulterior motive.

Dana and I are at Topaz Lake on 395, just got back from dinner. We hiked in the ancient bristlecones today, pretty awesome place. Monitor pass tomorrow.

What a wonderful place. Did you do the four mi loop?

Thanks, everyone, for a really fun event. Had a nice ride to the ancient bristlecone forest and then home at a flower sniffing pace through Yosemite. Here's the view from an overlook on the way up to the bristlecones.

not enough time but we did the shorter northern loop. There’s a grove of really old ones in there.

I had a great ride on Badwater Road and Artist Road.  The traffic sure drops off dramatically after Badwater!  And CA 127 south of Shoshone was kinda eerie with about one vehicle every 10 minutes or so.  A little more traffic on the Kelbaker Rd with lots of interesting distractions (rock formations & sand dunes).  Pulled into Palm Springs close to sunset and put the GS into storage until my next visit.

A great weekend of riding and fine conversation with old & new friends.

Thanks Don for arranging everything.   Thanks Mikko, Sebastian (& Dana), Russ & Jan for letting an old fart tag along riding.

Now that I've had the chili cheese dog, met the burros and ridden some in Death Valley can I get a stamp or something?

And no Todd, PBR will never be on my (or those German tourist's) must-have list.

Thanks for the organization Mr. Duck, it was a blast!  Though I don't have long range on the ST, it did fair in the high 40's mpg. All except when traveling on Friday  to Beatty.  It dropped to about 36 mpg.  I have no idea as to why... :burnout:

We headed out of Kernville to Sherman Pass, and just past McNally's the roar of jet engines blasted down from the sky as a fighter jet from, I would guess China Lake, zoomed overhead on his way to Death Valley.  Here you see Carl and the fighter:
