Front Wheel Bearing inspection.

Any input on what to look for during preride inspection and at my 6,000 svcs.?

All I've done so far is spin the front wheel and listen for a 'gritty' sound or feeling. I'm at 65,000 and want to keep an eye on it.

The next time you have your wheel off move the inner race of the bearings around 360-degrees with your thumb and feel for any roughness. If it's all smooth you're OK and if you feel any noticeable roughness I'd replace.

Replacing front wheel bearings is one thing I do as preventive maintenance, and replace them somewhere between 40 and 50K miles. A front wheel bearing once it feels rough may not last a 100 miles.
