Constructed of the same 10 oz. English waxed cotton, the Cousin Jeremy combines the function and style benefits of Aerostich’s Falstaff material with their Roadcrafter Classic design.

The most functional benefit to waxed cotton is the reduced break-in period and freedom of movement. After only a couple thousand miles of mixed weather, the suit begins to settle and shapes to your body like an old glove, whereas the 500-Denier Cordura of the Roadcrafter Classic takes a couple of good riding seasons to break in. While the Roadcrafter’s stiffness is a sign of a more durable material, the waxed cotton non-GORE-TEX exterior waterproofing of the Cousin Jeremy works just as well when properly maintained.

In a crash, there’s no way to expect a natural fiber to hold up like a synthetic, so there’s a reduction in sliding and abrasion protection. The TF armor, which handles most of the impact force, is the same as the Roadcrafter and can be very effective, if a little bulky at the elbows and knees. Corner patches cannot be made of ballistic materials but are designed to be replaced in case of damage. The back and hip armor are strong but will add some bulk to the jacket and pants. Standard Roadcrafter zipper design means plenty of ventilation for all types of riding. We especially love that Aerostich hasn’t gotten rid of the large pit zips, like some brands do to save costs.

Visual appeal is quite dynamic, being both classic and functional at the same time. You could be on a scrambler, ADV, dual-sport, cruiser, sport-touring bike or scooter and the Cousin Jeremy still looks slick. Others frequently asked about it when I stopped. Perhaps my favorite aesthetic feature of the brown cotton variation is how it changes in appearance over time. As you wear it, the material’s texture and creases start to take on a leathery marble pattern which simply won’t be replicated on anyone else’s suit. Most importantly though, Cousin Jeremy is more comfortable to live in on a daily basis, making me almost wish they’d make a lighter, casual version.

As usual, what makes Aerostich a flagship line is that their products last a very long time and are hand-made in Duluth, Minnesota to your specific dimensions, if one of the many available mix-and-match sizes won’t work.

At around $1,200, a little less than a Cordura-based Roadcrafter suit, we certainly couldn’t say the Cousin Jeremy is the cheapest option in the waxed-cotton world. Nevertheless, having a functional, stylish and comfortable suit with lots of pockets custom tailored to your body may very well be worth it if you’re a long-distance rider. MSRP: Jacket—$667 | Pants—$587 Aerostich.com

They seam ;) to admit that crash protection and longevity is not on par with the Cordura Products they produce. Yet I like it, weird. :dontknow:
