EyeBike528
This was my 3rd Iron Butt Challenge. I live on Long island and was planning to head to cross the Mississippi via St. Louis, then ride up to Chicago and back home, but there was a SERIOUS rain storm from OK all the way to VT on the weekend of Sept 9-12th, 2018 so that got cancelled. Enter Plan B. I left NY, via NYC, headed South to Chessapeake Bay, Norfolk VA, Savannah, GA, and turned up to Chattanooga, TN, then up to Harrisburg, PA and back to NY. Took 2 short naps along the way, and was only wet about 40 % of the time. Total ride was 2,116 miles in 44 hours and 12 mnis. Weather started out wet and 58 degrees, then it was 92 by the time I arrived in Savannah, GA in the dead of night. Warm all the way to TN, and W.V,, then temps slid lower to the 70's again coming into MD and PA. Cold and dark by the time I hit Bethel, PA, NJ, and the G.W. bridge. Link to the video I posted on YouTube. Recordings every 100 miles or so, 31 mins total, no music. See you out there! Jim S. 2010 R1200RT Link to comment
RandyShields
Good for you! Well thought out and executed. And that bike is perfect for the ride and very stable in the wet. Randy Link to comment
tallman
Fun, I hope. That mileage gets one thinking about a 50 CC or 100 CCC. Good job making the trip safely and without incident. Thanks for sharing. Link to comment
