EffBee
I love living in western Colorado. Had a commitment for Thursday evening, so I took off for Torrey at a lazy 8AM on Friday. About 4 hours, 265 miles, almost one coyote and one tank of gas later (I admit the yellow light was showing), I rolled into the Chuckwagon. Incredible weather. Temps in the mid 70's. A breeze instead of winds. Great friends. A view of the ISS flying overhead at 9PM. And we found a new (to me) BBQ place which is fantastic if you stick with the brisket and still pretty dang good if you go for the ribs (it's at at the 1000 Lakes RV Park. . . . you get your choice of smoked meat, two sides, cornbread, your choice of dessert and a beverage for $20, which absolutely kicks Cafe Diablo to the curb). Heading home this morning I got chased through Capitol Reef by some crazy Georgians, high on the Bulldogs' win over Mizzou on Saturday (great to see you and Judith, Charley), and when I got to Hanksville I decided to forego the easy route and instead head south on UT95 and take the fun way home. Six hours, 380 miles (I may have breeched the posted limit once or twice on UT95), and I rolled in around 4pm. That included an official 55mph escort for almost a half hour on CO62. Dang it, if I hadn't stopped for a photo op in Norwood, I would have gone past the CO145/CO62 intersection (from whence the Deputy turned and got in front of me) 90 seconds earlier. Oh, well. Rolled into the garage and had a load of laundry going 10 minutes later. All the windows in the house are open, and the breeze is wonderful. Getting ready to pull stuff out of the dryer in a few minutes, then grill some veggie tacos for dinner, take a shower, let Netflix to take me further on my third trip through Weeds (redundant, I know, but MLP throws my switch) and an early slumber. Torrey, as always, was beautiful. But it's the great friends who gather there who make each event so memorable. This was Whip's first Torrey as the new owner of this board, and it went off without a hitch. And Al Schibi, we truly missed you. Link to comment
KTM Doug
Should have just passed him. You could have told him you know a Ranger from a previous encounter. Link to comment
FlyingFinn
Just got home to Los Gatos at 5:30pm - safe and sound. Left from Torrey at 4am and booked almost exactly 800 miles. Gotta love the fuel range on that GS Adventure. I'm so glad I took the time to come to Torrey this time, after a long break. It was so much fun to see all the old friends! Link to comment

Great riding with you on Goosberry Rd. Another great trip and another great Torrey. May is too far away. Eventually made it home by 8:30 after starting my trip killing a bird with my helmet at 75 mph, one more reason to wear full face helmet and don't tell PETA, and a 70 mile detour due to the road between Searchlight and Nipton being closed which I normally use as a bypass around the Sunday Vegas traffic. Not so much of a shortcut today having to go south to Needles to go west again. Link to comment
Bill_Walker
Home at 1:00 PM or so today (Monday). It was nice to go to Torrey, even if I did spend most of two days holed up in my room with a sinus infection. Grr. Came home via 12, and I've never seen so many cattle on Boulder Mountain, 89, then 14 to Cedar City, and then the drone of I-15. Stopped early in Jean to avoid the afternoon heat and sun and Sunday evening traffic. Had a pretty easy ride today, and about 10-20 degrees cooler than it was yesterday afternoon. Link to comment
longjohn
In at about 3:30 after spending a night in Jean. Link to comment
mnTwin
Made it to Vegas yesterday (it's a dry heat!), then flew home to MN today. Hmmm, about 45 degrees cooler here--and wet. Evidently, there was a lot of rain while I was gone. I finally made it up to Huntington Canyon this trip, via Gooseberry Road. The Butler map rates part of Huntington as a G1 (the highest rating), and it was awesome. Too bad I'm terrible at taking pictures. Another first--I finally rode the Teasedale loop. Short and sweet (and so close to Torrey). Link to comment
Ron_B
Home this morning. Should have been yesterday, but a bad case of sleepy hit me about 150 miles from home. As usual, I had a great time seeing everyone. 'Till spring... Link to comment
