Replaced 4year old odyssey battery that had same symptom. Direction to proceed? Evening Dave Place to start looking is to verify that all the battery cable connections are tight at both the starter & battery. (it sounds a little like a poor battery cable connection) If you can't find a smoking gun then you will need to use a voltmeter & run some voltage drop tests to see what part of the system is opening up during attempted cranking. It might even end up being be a bad starter? When does the problem happen? Only cold after sitting over night? or only hot after riding? or anytime? Link to comment
spacewrench
Can you jump-start it? Or once you put in the new battery, you haven't been able to start it since? How do you ride it daily if you can't start it? Link to comment

I will add that these bike's starter motors frequently freeze when internal magnets jam the armature. (They also get very slow when internal gear covers drop onto the armature.) If the connections look clean and tight, and you're wrenching skills make it easy for you to remove the starter, I'd be tempted to look there. Link to comment
dave sawyer
Well, took the brand new, turns out it is two years old, odyssey battery back to batteries+bulbs. They charged it overnight and declared it defective the next day. Man said it should have never been sold if more than a year old. So he ordered a new pc680 which should be in Thursday. Will let you know the outcome when I get the new battery. Been screwing around with this issue for two weeks now. Can you spell “ Amazon “. Might be after Thursday, as we're getting ready to feel the effects from Florence about Wednesday night. Link to comment
