Cap
I was somewhat surprised to find that the passenger grab handles on my RT are plastic. I'm skeptical that they will withstand any significant force, as might be the case when attempting to right the bike if I were to lay it down in a parking lot. Has anyone had occasion to test that theory? Cap Link to comment
Beemer Dood
I've used those grab handles to right my bike as well as several others. No issues to report. Link to comment
lkraus
The material and design has been basically the same since at least 2005. I've not heard of any cracks or breaks in normal use. I've used them twice to lift my '06 RT, once with a full tank, panniers mounted and loaded, once without - also no issues. They might break in a collision after a direct hit, but then you'd probably have worse problems to worry about, and access to the rear subframe for lifting would might be easier. gordiet
My friend suspended the rear of his 1200 RT by using an overhead winch system connected to the grab rails. No problem. Edited August 12, 2018 by gordiet Link to comment
