1150GS front shock: which years interchange?

Due to Circumstances Too Long (and partly dumb) to Go Into I am looking for a used front shock for my 2003 1150GS. I believe there is a range of model years that interchange OK but cannot find the info.

Doug, you posted to the Wethead forum, you should post to Oilheads. I would find the part number here https://www.realoem.com/bmw/ then put that part number in https://www.realoem.com/bmw/ to see what else uses the same shock.
