I don't see a thread for this so will start one. Left Sat to avoid nasty weather slated for Sunday.

Arrived home in New Orleans at 6:30 today after a nice 750mile ride. Weather was great other that the serious cross wind for the last 50 miles. What a great location and nice turnout. Great to see everyone. Thanks to Ken and Dave for their efforts, they ARE very much appreciated. See everyone at UN and FART.

Home at 2pm. I parted company with Mike Greif near Crossville, TN. 80 miles of rain, small price to pay for a great weekend of riding! Ken and Dave another great job. Craig thanks for letting me tag along. I was tentative on Friday but much more relaxed on Saturday. I am not sure if this was what the doctor ordered, but it sure worked for me!

Home at 5:30 after a late-ish start, crawling past Mt Mitchell in the clouds behind cagers who didnt even turn their lights on, a great lunch in Blue Ridge, with about 2.5 hours in the rain.

Great people! Great riding buddies! Great time!

Thanks Ken and Dave. Well done as always.

Home safely about 630 after a leisurely breakfast and a stop for lunch with Jim Williams in Knoxville... followed by rain... lots and lots of rain! (And a detour at Harriman as I-40 came to a standstill (assuming a wreck).

Road mostly interstate with hundreds of trucks and 3 major accident/backups on I-81 to DC with Mark (Marcopolo) & Peter (Twistyguy. I arrived home at 5:30.

Another fantastic BMWST event! Thanks to Ken and Dave's organization, the hotel, location, and fabulous routes/roads, I had 4 days of fantastic riding and fellowship! Can't thank them enough!

I look forward to seeing many of you at the UN and FART '18

Good song.

Not sure about the others but as I get longer in the tooth I look for less miles per day. This was as short as I could find. Very glad I didn't wait until today to return as it would have been ugly.

Pulled out at 7 AM, home 552 miles later around 7 PM.

Rode with Terry(from Perry) till he turned west in Warrenton, GA, had a little rain.

We stopped in Cedar Mountain, NC for had a great breakfast at The Cedar Mountain Cafe.

Lots of great riding and good food with friends.

Thank you Kinsley and Indy Dave for organizing the great event and picking a great venue.

Also it was good to see so many friends from far away, braving the late winter storms.

It's been so long since I have been to a START event that I almost forgot about the check-in thread.

I made it home this morning at around 10 AM CST after leaving yesterday morning. I stayed the night in Lafayette, IN. I was fortunate enough to have Chris K, Randy Shields and Keith escort me out of town on Saturday morning. After about 100 miles of churning some pretty tasty twisties, they split off after we hit a road closer on route 70.

Many thanks to Ken, Dave and all the rest that put in the hard work to set up this event. It was a short visit on my account, but worth it in every respect. :)

Arrived home, in Alexandria, about 5:20 p.m,, after a (mostly) good day's ride with Bob (Endibobdds), and Oeter (TwistyGuy). On our first detour off I-81, Bob had us on a virtually deserted Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia for about 30 miles of unfettered riding. Didn't know one could go that “briskly” on the BRP. Thanks to Ken, and Dave, for a great job, in all respects. Even the weather gods smiled on us, as compared to some of the predictions. And a thank you as well to Joel for the START sticker.

Awesome time, Thanks again to Dave and Ken.

We snuck in a couple more hours of riding this morning, got back to Blowing Rock just as the rain started, and was happy to have the option of loading the bike in the truck for a dry ride home.

Shawn, your effort to get to START and then ride home were extraordinary and, while you were only able to join us for one evening and a short ride, the entire group benefited by your presence. I don't ever remember seeing so many hugs on one visit before. Thanks for joining us and sharing time. It was good to read that you got you home safely.

I left mid day Saturday to take a long way home, and stopped in Staunton, VA. Home about 7 last night thanks to traffic I couldn't avoid around the NYC metro area.

Many thanks to Craig for leading us around, Little John for the PA escort and of course to Ken and Dave for the work to bring this together.

Until next time!

You just want SOMEBODY to take credit for the fact that a Northerner actually moved back North. I know.....nobody to this day believes that I did it willingly. :)

So...sure, I was "run" out of town. LOL

Home safe in DC at 530pm after a 9 hour trip with Bob and Mark. Lots of trucks and traffic on I-81, but Bob took us on an amazing detour on an empty Blue Ridge Parkway—absolutely no cars! After battling trucks and traffic on I-81 it was almost surreal. Great job Bob!

I had a great time at START. Sincere thanks to Dave and Ken—the hotel, town, routes, group dinner and overall preparation was outstanding. And great job on the weather!😉 Much appreciated.

Highlights for me were Bernie's great ride leading and cop avoidance— still can't get over your cop detecting superpower! (See future pic) The detailed discussion at Saturday night's dinner with Ken, Dave, Bob, Bernie, Terry and Mark on different riding philosophies on trail braking, lean angle, and throttle management. And mostly the great people sharing a passion for riding.

Welp . . . What an an OUTSTANDING START! Great to see so many old and new friends enjoying laughs, routes, riding & making and sharing memories. After several days of following chasing Bernie, finding the energy to un-stick myself from the bike at the end of the day took all the energy I could muster. Once the helmet comes off, hearing the infectious laughter from all around the parking lot and hotel was enough to re-energize me for the rest of the day - as long as whatever comes next isn't chasing Bernie.

Thanks one and all! These events are special because you all take the time out of your already busy schedules to come together make it all happen.

We had 40 STARTers provide their bike's odometer reading, with a total of 1,309,585 miles. Lowest reading: 1252; highest 100,227. Lawnchairboy won the contest for the second consecutive time. He says he'll share his tips for a one time consulting fee of $99.99. :stir::shake:

Thanks to all who submitted pictures, if you didn't have time last weekend, you can still send them to: startfarting@gmail.com

Twistyguy submitted these pictures, including Bernie's buddy watching us lazily pass by.

Chris K and I ran into a little rain from Clayton to Atlanta, after we split ( not permanently just a trial separation) I made back by 4:00 PM. My hat's off to Dave & Ken for organizing START and holding it in fabulous Blowing Rock in the proximity of a 'few' good roads. :) Oh BTW don't 'flip off' dump truck drivers. If you do and survive I know a good but out of work lawyer that's good but not cheap!!!
