F650CS magic smoke

The wife has an '05 F650CS. Multiple times recently when she turns on the ingnition key (to run), there has been a small wisp of smoke, and an electrical smell. From what I can tell so far, it's coming from the front of the engine, on the right side, near the oil dip stick. I have no idea what's down in there.

 

Any thoughts?
