PR4 front, PR3 on the back?

Hi Everyone,

Back again with a question I'm not sure that I've seen a consensus opinion on this forum. Time for new tires for my '97 R1100RT and the (new to me) independent shop is telling me that they typically install PR4s on the front and PR3s on the back since Michelin does not sell the right size for the rear. I've had three sets of PR3s and think they are great (for the first 7k miles anyway).

I've always believed that these tires are engineered to work as a pair.

Any concerns out there about mixing these tires in this manner?

Thanks!
