Valve Adjustment

Doing winter maintenance and when checking valves my upper valve on right head was loose. .40mm fit with no problem. Next size .43mm would not fit. Were do I buy shims and how do I figure what size I need?

The shims are available in sizes from 4.60mm to 5.70mm.

 

Either mike yours or look at the shim side to see what size is currently in it.

 

Then just simple math to figure out how much thicker you new shim needs to be.

 

Your BMW dealer should have the size that you need (might even trade your old one for the correct size)
