hopz
Hi friends... I have a large and growing "collection" of the BMW Owner's News Magazines. Of course they are nicely done, occasionally have really good articles and etc. The "issue", no pun intended- is .... is there anything constructive to do with these magazines? They are all in pristine condition... often un-read. I do not think there is a library that would want them. The local BMW dealer has a large and growing pile already. I seems sort of, kinda disloyal to just recycle them in the big green bin... Anyone want them? Ideas? Link to comment
dirtrider
Morning Hopz I usually take my old motorcycle (& other hobby) magazines to my club breakfasts & give them out to newer members that might not subscribe. What doesn't go at breakfast I then take to my local nursing homes. It's unbelievable on how many old timers in nursing homes used to ride & like to tell me about their old Harley's or old BMW's, or old British bikes. Those magazines seem to be real popular with the old timers & they beat & bang their wheel chairs & walkers to get to the donated magazines first. I keep thinking that could be me in the not too distant future. In any case the donated magazines do seem very appreciated. Link to comment

elkroeger
I'm up at the hospital now with my elderly mother... You think you could stop by here quick and drop a couple off? Time has slowed down to about 1/2 regularspeed.... Link to comment
moshe_levy
I've got nearly 14 years' worth in the basement myself. Now I know what to do with them. Thanks DR! -MKL Link to comment
lkraus
Like any other paper magazine, mine hit the recycling bin as soon as I've read them. I had 12 boxes of bike and woodworking magazines the last time we moved. Life is too short to live with that kind of clutter. I will occasionally scan a particularly good article to PDF, but usually there is nothing worth saving. Or that I would be able to find if I did want to read again. I wish BMWMOA offered a digital-only option. Edited December 5, 2016 by lkraus Link to comment
moshe_levy
They do. It's right there on the MOA website each month. -MKL Link to comment
lkraus
Maybe I should clarify: I'd like to NOT receive the print edition, and read the online, digital version only. This option was discussed a few years ago, but AFAIK it was not implemented. I'll ask again over in the Clubhouse. I'm not holding my breath for a reply. My December 1 question about updating the online Anonymous Book to something newer than 2015 is still awaiting a response. Edited December 5, 2016 by lkraus Link to comment
hopz
My MOA Magazines "collection" has been shared and the idea if going all digital will the seriously considered. Thanks for all the comments. Link to comment
lkraus
My MOA Magazines "collection" has been shared and the idea if going all digital will the seriously considered. Thanks for all the comments. I'm not sure if you saw the "official" response I received on the MOA forum. Digital-only is an option by special request. If popular, that option represents a potential loss of advertising revenue, so it is not encouraged. My copies may be retiring to the library room of a local senior housing center. Link to comment
RPG
I just stopped in the local nursing home and found an older gentleman in a wheelchair, in a big room. I walked up and said, "excuse me sir, do you like motorcycles? I have some magazines here that I hope you might like to look at" His eyes lit up and he told me of the bikes he used to have, back in the 40's. Indian's, Harley's.....used to ride with a club out of Detroit. He's leafing through them and then he sees the issue with the hot girl on the cover, from a couple months ago and says, "I think I'll keep one this in my room." LOL! I guess it was meant to be. I wanted to stay and talk the rest of the night, but the 'ol lady started banging on the horn. Thanks D.R., I feel good today. I have a purpose now. RPG Link to comment
